We wish to honor the morning Slidell Rotary Club for donating the flag poles, flags and landscaping that greet each of our guests whenever they visit the Harbor Center. Although Katrina removed the landscapaing the flags stand today as a memory of our former glory. The landscaping will again be returned and we will forever be grateful for the Rotary Club.

Robert Torres for his gracious land donation without whom the Northshore Harbor Center would still be a dream
Joe Anderson, Jr., for his tireless dedication and being the longest standing board member of twenty years and our first Chairman Emeritus
Kerry Painter whose commitment to make the Northshore Harbor Center more than a community recreation center and for her foresight to make this a nationally recognized facility
ESTEC Commissioners past, present and future who give their free time and talents, their work time and precious time away from their families to give something amazing back to their community
Senator Schedler is the signer of the legislation that created us and got us Capital Outlay monies and House Bill 1.

St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis for taking on the responsibility of presiding over the Friends of the Harbor Center. He has picked up the torch and is leading the 501c3 board toward great things.
The Friends of the Harbor Center. Kerry and Deb’s idea for a 501c3 Board always seemed grand in theory. We had no idea what could happen when you comprise a board of some of the most prominent civic and community leaders in Slidell. They are the people with the least time to give and yet they manage to give up a lunch hour once a month and countless behind-the-scenes hours to make the Northshore Harbor Center the best possible facility. Their first project of planning all aspects of the Harbor Center Grand Opening could not be more successful.
Blitch Knevel for having the same ideas in design and presentation that we do. When we said that we wanted something Louisiana has never seen before they made it happen: color scheme, stripes, theme and all.
The citizens of Wards 8 and 9 who voted a bond millage not once, but three times to show their belief and dedication in this building.
New Orleans Northshore Tourist Commission for their special revenue fund monies given to help us outfit the building.
New Orleans Northshore Hospitality for their room tax, without which we could not operate.
Trinity’s Banquet Hall for putting up with us as we burst at the seams with new employees and activities and for renting us a temporary space from which to conduct business
The communities of Slidell and St. Tammany East: we know you’ve been doubtful and skeptical. When a project has been in the works as long as this, it’s easy to become disillusioned. We understand. But now is the time for celebration. This truly is your facility. We want to continue to be a part of your lives. Have you wedding here, have your wedding anniversary here, your Mardi Gras ball, your high school reunion, your family reunion. When you think of the Northshore Harbor Center, we don’t want you to think of “that place they’re building over there by the lake.” We want it to be synonymous in your mind with happy events, joyful memories, accomplishments, professionalism and the best service you’re ever had. |
